Admissions with Berkeley College

Berkeley College prepares students for some of today’s most exciting careers.

What is the main objective of Berkeley College? —Fernando Hiyane

I’m an international student interested in applying to Berkeley College. Can you tell me where I can find your list of programs and requirements for me to be able to get in?

Berkeley College is also very flexible and accepts a number of tests (TOEIC, Pearson’s PTE, etc) other than TOEFL/IELTS.

I'd like to know how heavily you weigh the extracurricular achievements of applicants? —Moritz Rietschel

We are looking for assertive, ambitious, outside the box thinking individuals who are ready for a challenge. Individuals who realize that learning is an experience that does not just take place in the classroom.

So I should focus on cultivating those things rather than winning awards or complete programs like the duke etc?

Every university has different admissions requirements and weigh different parts of the application differently.

How much is the tuition fee at Berkeley College?

Tuition fee is $11,800 per semester.

And how many semesters are there in total per course?

In general the Bachelor degree programs are 8 semesters and an Associate degree program is 4 semesters however this depends on how well you do in the classes.

I’d like to know where is the college campus located? —Shaurya Sumuk

Berkeley College has NINE campus locations in New York, New Jersey, and Online!

Our main campus is in the heart of NYC about 1/2 block from the New York Public Library and steps from Times Square, the Empire State Building, and Grand Central Station.

Do you accept Iraqi students in your college? —Mina Al-Rawagi

We have over 600 internationals students from almost 100 different countries!

Whom do you consider as a perfect student to be admitted into your prestigious college? What qualities do you search for? —Divya Soni

We determine the admission of a student individually on a holistic approach where we determine if the student would be a good fit for Berkeley College and if the student would benefit from the Berkeley College experience as such we do not base admission on GPA alone.

Certainly a higher GPA is better than a lower one but it is not the only factor in determining success in higher education.

What percentage of total applications ends up receiving a scholarship? Is it better to apply early? —Eman Jamil

That is a great question – we do have a budget (it is better to apply early!) but we review all scholarship applications.

Do you have offer any full scholarships? —Salsabila Nurul Zhafirah

Unfortunately we do not offer full scholarships, however Berkeley offers competitive scholarships for international students.  Students can qualify from 10% to a maximum of 25% off tuition. Also, for freshmen who enter the September 2017 semester, we are selecting high achieving students (with high school GPA 3.0 and above) into our Honors program. Honors students will receive a 50% off the annual tuition fee.

I'm a foreign high school student and I've already completed several Advanced English courses. Do I still need to do the TOEFL exam? —Pedro Alves Soares Vaz De Castro

We would need to see the transcripts but it might be possible to waive TOEFL.

Would my participation in other fields irrelevant to the subject I’m applying for, affect my acceptance to the college? —Eman Jamil

We consider an applicant’s entire application, including supporting documents. Hence, no need to worry.

Do you have early action and early decision system in place for deciding who gets into your college? —Arianna Davis

No we do not, but we do encourage all students to apply at least 6-9 months prior to their desired start term.

 

Do you provide any student accommodation? And if so, how much does it cost? —Shaurya Sumuk

I am from India and we have a three year graduation course. Is that recognized in Berkeley college if I want to apply for a post graduation course? —Ishita Lahiri

In some cases we can accept the three year graduation programs but we need to see your transcripts.
